Kameň

Камень

A. I. Gumiľovovej

Hľa, ako zlostne hľadí kameň,
hlboké škáry budia nepokoj,
pod machom bliká skrytý plameň -
nie je to svätojánsky roj.

Sibyly chmúrnych hradných pánov,
namosúrení druidi
ho povolali z oceánov,
aby sa pomstil za krivdy.

Čierny a strašný vyšiel z morí,
na brehu leží, pozri sa,
za nocí všetky veže zborí
náhodným sokom pomstí sa.

Preletí ponad pusté lány,
skryje sa za krík, stlmí let,
ohnivo blysne štrbinami
a potom sa zas vrhne vpred.

Len málokto ho v noci vidí
vyrážať tajne na cesty
a opováž sa vlas mu skriviť
a či sa dotknúť jeho cti.

Udusí v sebe plameň zloby,
zbytočné hrozby, besnenie,
mlčky sa zmení do podoby
útesu – tak aj skamenie.

No nech by si sa hockde schoval,
s klamstvom, s tým uňho pohoríš,
on si ťa nájde, vzlietne znova
a do pŕs sa ti zaborí.

Zmeravieš celý ohromený,
zbadáš svit v jeho štrbinách,
začuješ, ako padá k zemi,
a praskot svojich kostí, šliach.

Spíjať sa bude krvou vrelou,
do rána nevyštve ho nik,
a strašné bude mŕtve telo,
jak pes, keď rozpučí ho býk.

Preletí ponad polia, hory,
vráti sa na breh, kde bol prv,
aby mu verné vlny v mori
obmyli priškvarenú krv.

A Ballad

Lucifer my friend gave me five horses / and one gold ruby ring, / for me to go down, down into the ground, / for me to see the sky's young face. / / My horses beat their hooves, snorted, begged / to gallop like birds all over the earth, / and I believed the sun's light burned for me, ...

The Turkey

In the morning of my unsure memory / I recall a many-coloured meadow, / where ruled a haughty / turkey, adored by me. / / He was malicious and free, / his beak crimson as fire / and he was sharply scornful / of my four years. / / Neither chocolate, nor caramels, / nor pineapp...

The palm groves and the aloe thickets…

The palm groves and the aloe thickets, / a silvery, matt stream, / the sky is infinitely blue, / the sky is gold from rays. / / What more do you want, heart? / Is happiness a fable or a lie? / Why do you give yourself up submissively / to another faith temptations? / / Do you w...

The Giraffe

O, the look in your eyes this morning is more than usually sad, / With your little arms wrapped round your knees and body bent in half. / Let me tell you a story: far, far away, on the distant shores of Lake Chad, / There roams a most majestic giraffe / / Blessed with a handsome build and...

A Ballad

My friend, Lucifer gave five horses to me, / And a radiant ruby-stone beautiful ring, / So that I could go down to marvelous caves, / And could see there heaven's celestial face. / / Snorted horses, and zealous, they hoofed, and they begged / To race over and over the space of the earth...
